Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China and has its own trademark legal system. To obtain the right to use a trademark in Hong Kong, a trademark must be registered locally. The competent authority is the Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

Requirements and documents required for trademark registration in Hong Kong

1. Applicant qualifications:

No basic registration requirements; Any natural or legal person wishing to obtain trade mark protection in Hong Kong.

2. Required Information:

A. The name and address of the applicant or the name and address of the company;

B. One copy of business license or ID card;

C. Trademark drawings. If protection colors are specified, at least 5 clear color trademark drawings are required;

D. Categories and goods/services to be protected.

3. The exclusive right to use a trademark shall be valid for ten years from the date of application, and shall be valid for ten years for each renewal of registration.
